Horse Teeth And Oral Cavity – Cheek Teeth Calculus
Tarter or calculus is found in some horses but not in others. Sometimes it is on 1 canine, sometimes all 4 but it is most commonly found on the lower canines. It can also be found on the incisors and rarely on the cheek side of the upper first few cheek teeth. What they all have in common is that tarter always appears at the gum line.
I believe the location of tarter is protective and should be considered an early indicator of developing EOTRH. Please read the blogs on EOTRH in the “Related Materials” tab.
