Vertical walls on a round pen work but angled walls help to keep the horse away from the wall to give riders more room up above for their legs. If boards are used be sure the boards are attached on the inside of the posts to provide a smooth surface. For all walls, constantly inspect for loose nails, chipped or loose boards or any other issues that could injure your horses.
